Finally took the plunge.

I have been wanting to get back into blogging for years now. I started blogging soon after I graduated from college to show the world what life was like as a post-graduate girl in her early 20’s. I called it unscripted reality. The problem was that I had no idea where I was going in terms of a job so I did what any other undecided and lost college graduate does, I started grad school. Life was crazy and there was just so much going on during those next 2 years that I kind of lost what I enjoyed doing. I lost sight of everything. I hardly saw friends and family, as a matter of fact, the only people I did see on a weekly basis were my daughter [dog] Maisey (yes, shes human), my grad school cohort (which were all really cool people who I truly love), and my clients and co-workers during my counseling internship.  I didn’t read anymore- and I LOVE reading (for pleasure), I wasn’t going to the gym on a daily basis (yes, I’m one of those people who actually enjoys working out! I HAVE NO IDEA WHY),  and I hardly spent time with my favorite person in the world- Maisey. It broke my heart to leave her so early on the days I had clients at 8 am, meaning I was out of my apt. by 7am and literally couldn’t come home until after class M-W at 7pm because of downtown San Antonio traffic or Thursday after the parenting classes I was teaching at 9pm. So long story short, believe me when I say- I was ecstatic the day I walked across the stage with my Masters degree in hand. Until of course, I went back to my seat and asked myself, what now?!

I have talked to so many of my 20 something year old friends who are all in the same boat. Struggling with the “What am I supposed to do now?” “Why won’t anyone hire me?” “Why can’t we go to happy hour like we used to, and stay up till 3 am and do it all over again the next day?”  They’re silly questions, but seriously, I feel like a bus hits you as soon as you are gasping for that big breath in order to blow out your candles on your 25th birthday cake. It’s exhausting being a mid 20er but everyone goes through it. As for me, I moved back home after graduation, and yes, back in with my parents, essentially to spend more time with my niece and nephew (now nephews), but I am still lost. I went to Europe with my mom this past summer after graduation and as soon as I came back I started applying. 1 month later, 3 months later, 6 months later, and nothing. I applied anywhere that had the word counselor and/or children in the job description. No luck. I talked to a recruiter who informed me that “the valley didn’t have that many non-profits or local mental health agencies with available positions”.  So when you get told something along those lines, you always revert to Plan B. My plan B was my favorite. Nannying & Babysitting. Something I had been doing as a side job ever since freshman year of  undergrad. Fast forward to right now. I am now nannying a sweet little boy and absolutely love my job. I’ve been there since January, and I love that little boy so much, so sweet. I know that eventually I have to get a “big girl job” but as for now, I am happy, and that’s really all that matters.

I’m slowly getting the “me” time back and I know blogging about my favorite things will put a big smile on my face. I go to the gym at least 5x/week, I cook ALL my meals (except on weekends[cheatkends]- I blame Trey,my boyfriend for that), and I spend more time with family and my boyfriend too now that he lives in Texas. He is originally from Alabama, but that’s a whole other blog post! So as far this blog goes, it will be a little bit of everything.

  • Style/Fashion/Clothes– because I’m obsessed and one of my good friends and I send each other texts of pictures of dresses that we are dying about on the reg, but have NO WHERE to wear them to. saddd face.
  • Deals– because sometimes I just need to know that someone else is going to use the coupon or discount that gets emailed to me. Saturday Trey and I went to Victoria’s Secret because I had a “20% off exclusive coupon for me only” and I had to use it! Until, I literally couldn’t find anything I absolutely needed, 3o mins later and Trey said “you don’t HAVE to use it”. I don’t know why my mind says, “oh coupon! YOU HAVE TO GO SHOPPING AND TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE SAVINGS” but anyway, I said oh, and we walked out without a polka dot Victoria’s Secret shopping bag. I know, weird.
  • Food– because I think I’m a chef every time I have a Pinterest cooking night or come up with a random healthy dish that I’m super proud of and NEED to share.
  • Life– because sometimes there are things you want to share with the world on your blog that you wouldn’t want to share with some of your Facebook friends over a Facebook status. :)
  • Favorites– some of my favorite beauty products, food products, secret remedies, or Maisey’s likes too!

Everything else will be fun things like guest bloggers, AKA my friends or sisters- who I’m sure are all willing to share a little somethin’ somethin’ and other life updates– like packing for VEGAS on Tuesday!! CRAZY. SLEEP, I need sleep.

Please comment if you read and let me know what you think, or if you have any suggestions or requests! My site is still under construction- trying to figure out this new database! I will finish it sometime soon so we can get this party started.
